Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) Techniques for the Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist and Hand

Dates and Locations coming soon!

Course Description

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) techniques have seen an explosion in popularity in the rehabilitation and sports performance populations due to their efficiency in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, decreased patient recovery time and decreased strain placed on the clinician. Unfortunately, implementation of these basic instruments has been limited given the high costs and low training specificity generally associated with IASTM techniques.

Gold Standard Seminar’s one-day course will cover the pathologies where IASTM can be used; review the history, theory and evidence behind IASTM; and highlight the utilization of IASTM in the treatment of shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand pathologies through extensive lab time. Participants will be provided with an IASTM instrument, and through guided instruction, will perform IASTM with a focus on the application of proper techniques. In addition, therapeutic exercises, workplace ergonomics and adjunctive treatment techniques will be demonstrated to increase the efficiency of IASTM delivery. Participants will return to their work environment ready to immediately incorporate IASTM techniques in the treatment of upper extremity pain pathologies. The educational level of this course is intermediate.
